Unlicensed food unit shut down in South Goa; expired items destroyed

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the unlicensed food unit was found operating in unhygienic conditions

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said an unlicensed food unit at Sao Jose de Areal was found operating in unhygienic conditions during an inspection.

Expired food items worth over Rs 2 lakh were seized and destroyed. The unit was fined Rs 25,000 and ordered to remain shut until it complies with all requirements and obtains a valid licence.

The Minister added that strict action will continue to be taken to ensure food safety across Goa.
