Banks, buses, anganwadis in Goa join nationwide strike

The nationwide strike is being held in protest against what is describes as the governmentโ€™s anti-labour and anti-farmer policies

Goa joined the nationwide strike being observed today, 12 February, in protest against the Central government’s labour reforms and economic policies, with demonstrations taking place near the Panjim KTC bus stand and Azad Maidan. Anganwadi workers, bus employees, and bank staff were among those participating in the strike in Goa.

Trade unions said one of their key demands was the payment of proper salaries, alleging that the proposed reforms would weaken workers’ protections and dilute existing labour rights.

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) had announced a one-day nationwide strike on 12 February 2026 in solidarity with central trade unions and farmers’ unions, protesting what it described as anti-labour and anti-farmer policies of the government.
