The St Sebastian painting, by renowned Goan-born modern artist Francis Newton Souza, has fetched an astounding Rs 7.3 crore at a recent auction, far surpassing its estimated value. The 1957 artwork drew intense interest from collectors, highlighting Souza's enduring influence in Indian modern art. Several of the artist's personal studio items also attracted strong bids, reflecting growing demand for works and memorabilia linked to the legendary painter.
