Centre launches new rural job scheme, replaces MGNREGA from July 1

The new scheme increases the guaranteed rural employment from 100 to 125 days for rural households

The Union government has announced a new rural employment scheme, Viksit Bharat -Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, which will replace Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act from July 1. The new scheme will provide 125 days of guaranteed wage employment to rural households, up from the current 100 days under MGNREGA.
