Author Pachu Menon set to launch two more books

The books ‘Thoughts & Tangents’ and ‘Human Landscape’ will be released on 11 April in Margao

Following the launch and success of five books, author and columnist Pachu Menon is all set to release two more books, Thoughts & Tangents and Human Landscape.

The books have been published by Sanjana Publications of Sanguem and the covers have been designed by Adriel Alvares.

Pachu Menon’s earlier books include, An Unprejudiced View, Bon Voyage, A Baker’s Dozen, In So Many Words, and Write Angle.

ABOUT THE BOOKS

Pachu Menon’s latest book, Thoughts & Tangents, is a collection of his columns and articles published in various newspapers and periodicals over the last year. As in the previous books, the author has put together his keen observations, opinions, commentary and analysis on a range of topics in this book as well.

As with the two previous anthologies, this one too promises the reader a rich and thought-provoking experience. Exploring the significance of many events and issues under consideration, it is an attempt to make the reader put his thinking cap on and arrive at his/her own conclusions about the topics discussed after seriously ruminating on them.

This collection aims to be a reflection of the modern world’s idiosyncrasies, the peculiar contradictions and paradoxes that define contemporary life.

The title of the book rightly suggests that it is a collection of thoughts, ideas, and musings that may not always follow a straight line, but rather explore different tangents and perspectives.

TRAVEL THOUGHTS

With Human Landscape, Pachu Menon wanted to write a sequel to his travelogue, Bon Voyage, but thought it would be restricting himself to only writing about places of tourist interest. Instead, he thought of writing the book about the people and places and the stories that make them remarkable.

As a unique experiment which sought to bring people and places together on a large canvas and narrate their amazing attributes, the book gave enough scope for the author to not only emphasise the outstanding features of some of the people and places he visited and met, but also characteristics that had abhorrence written all over some of them that the author found appalling.

For a book about remarkable places and people, Human Landscape effectively conveys that it is a collection of stories, profiles, or vignettes that showcase the human side of these places and individuals.

Both books will be released on Saturday, 11 April (5 pm) at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
