Timings of feast and novena masses of Ven Fr Agnelo in Pilar

The feast of Goa's Ven Fr Agnelo will be celebrated in Pilar on 20 November 2025.

The novenas begin on 11 November, culminating in the solemn feast mass on 20 November, which will be presided over by the auxiliary bishop of Bombay

This year, the commemoration of the 98th death anniversary of the Venerable Fr Agnelo de Souza will be celebrated in Pilar, Tiswadi, on 20 November 2025. The main theme of the celebration is ‘Venerable Agnelo inspires us to be pilgrims of hope’.


The Right Rev Dominic Savio Fernandes, auxiliary bishop of Bombay, will preside over the solemn feast mass at 9.30 am.


Other masses on the feast day are as follows: Morning: 5.30 am, 6.45 am, 8 am, 11.30 am Afternoon/evening: 4 pm, 5.15 pm, 6.15 pm (English) 


NOVENA TIMINGS (11 – 19 November 2025)


The novenas will be held from 11 to 19 November 2025. The timings for the novena masses are as follows: Morning: 5.30 am, 6.45 am, 8 am, 9.15 am, 10.30 am Afternoon/evening: 4 pm, 5.15 pm, 6.15 pm (English) A night vigil will be held on 14 November from 9.30 pm to 5 am the next day. Masses in other languages will be held on the following days:


• Tamil: 16 November at 11.30 am (in the pandal) 


• Hindi: 16 November at 12.30 pm (in the pandal)


• Malayalam: 16 November at 11.30 am (in the Mission Seminary chapel) A special mass for the sick will be held on 18 November at 10.30 am, and a mass for the spiritual brothers and sisters will be celebrated on 16 November at 10.30 am. 


NOVENA INTENTIONS


Each day of the novena will focus on a specific intention as follows:


• 11 November (Tuesday): Peace in the world


• 12 November (Wednesday): Migrants and refugees


• 13 November (Thursday): Young people and the unemployed


• 14 November (Friday): Children 


• 15 November (Saturday): Priests, religious and vocations


• 16 November (Sunday): Families and childless couples 


• 17 November (Monday): The environment


• 18 November (Tuesday): The sick


• 19 November (Wednesday): Missions and missionaries 


OTHER INFORMATION


Every mass will be followed by a novena prayer and prayers for the sick. Priests will be available for confessions and counselling. All masses will be live streamed on the Society of Pilar India YouTube channel and will also be broadcast on CCR TV, Prime TV, Prudent TV, Goa365, RDX, Goa9 TV, InGoa, GoaPlus and GCTV. As in previous years, vehicular traffic will flow in one direction. 


All vehicles should enter the Pilar hillock from Neura Road and exit via the regular Pilar Hillock Road. Shuttle services will be available at the foot of the hillock for those commuting by bus. To ensure smooth traffic movement, parking has been arranged behind the Pilar Seminary. 


ABOUT VEN FR AGNELO Venerable Agnelo de Souza was born on 21 January 1869 in the scenic village of Anjuna, North Goa. His parents, Miguel and Simphorosa, were devout Catholics who guided their children in faith and moral values.


A member of the Society of Pilar, Ven Agnelo dedicated his life to preaching God’s word, and conducting retreats across many churches in Goa. He breathed his last on 20 November 1927.
