On the occasion of the birthday of St Francis Xavier, Verna-based New Age Printers, the printing press of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, launched a new book, titled VELLE VELO SANT: Francis Xavier.
The anthology was released by the Chief Guest Anant Agni, Headmaster of Ravindra Kelekar Dnyan Mandir, Margao, at the poetry symposium titled ‘Gõycho Saib, Gõychea Akaran 2.0’, organised by St Francis Xavier Church, Borim.
This collection, edited by Konkani poet and writer Guadalupe Dias, features over 85 poems contributed by poets and devotees of the saint. The book is presented in both Roman and Nagri scripts, making it accessible to a wider readership.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The concept for this spiritual tapestry was developed by Parish Priest Rev Dr Victor Ferrao. Noted Konkani writer Vincy Quadros meticulously handled the transliteration, further broadening the book's appeal.
Fr Myron Jeson Barreto, Manager of New Age Printers, described the publication as a blend of faith and literature, reflecting the life of St Francis Xavier, whom he described as "a beacon of faith to all the followers of Christ."
Rev Dr Victor Ferrao, Guadalupe Dias, Vincy Quadros, and Agnelo Borim were also present on the occasion.
The book is available at New Age Printers (Verna) and Lighthouse (Margao and Vasco).
