Britto’s OBA organises career guidance program for Class X students

St. Britto’s OBA conducted a session for Class 10 students to provide guidance on diverse career paths, featuring insights from experts and alumni

The Britto’s Old Boys Association (Britto’s OBA) organised a special program, ‘Career Conversations’, for the Std X students of St. Britto High School, Mapusa, Goa, recently. The session commenced with a warm welcome by the event coordinator, Jacinto D’Souza, followed by Britto’s OBA President, Rohan Nazareth, who introduced the students to the vision and objectives of the association, while also emphasising the benefits of staying connected as alumni.


‘Career Conversations’, an interactive initiative designed and executed by the Britto’s OBA, aimed at providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse career opportunities available nowadays. The program also highlighted the educational paths and institutions that can help students pursue these careers effectively.


MAKING CHOICES


The day featured a series of engaging talks by distinguished speakers. Organic Agriculture Promoter, Miguel Braganza, encouraged the students to explore a broad spectrum of career options beyond the conventional choices, inspiring them to think creatively about their future paths.


Air Vice Marshal (Dr) Giles Gomez VSM (Retd) provided insights into the opportunities offered by the Indian Air Force, detailing the skills and dedication required to succeed in the armed forces.


Dr Sam Braganza spoke about the importance of discipline, determination and dedication, while highlighting potential career avenues in sports. Capt John Pereira shared his experiences and guidance on pursuing a career in the Merchant Navy, emphasising the professional and personal growth opportunities in the field.


Each speaker was felicitated with a potted plant as a token of appreciation for their contribution.


The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Britto’s OBA secretary, Johan Bragança. Fr Basil Vago SJ, the school principal, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, commending both the association for organising the program, and the speakers for their insightful and motivating presentations.


Overall, ‘Career Conversations’ proved to be an inspiring and enlightening program, helping students of St. Britto High School gain clarity and confidence in exploring their future career options. The session encouraged them to consider diverse paths and equipped them with valuable guidance to make informed decisions about their professional journeys.
