As polling day draws to a close, Chief Editor of The Voice, Vishwanath Nene, analyses the closely watched Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections. He notes that the elections are a fight between 2 panels – one backed by Babush Monserrate, and the other led by Utpal Parrikar, son of Goa’s late CM, Manohar Parrikar.


Surendra Furtado, who is part of Utpal’s camp, was once Babush’s right hand man. Both Surendra and Babush are seasoned politicians, so the big question remains: who will ultimately emerge victorious in this high-stakes contest? The answer will become clear when the results are declared on March 13.
