Tension resurfaces in Velsao over resumption of railway double-tracking work

Tension has resurfaced in Velsao after villagers alleged that RVNL has resumed railway double-tracking work despite a pending review meeting and joint site survey ordered by the authorities.

Residents fear the work could block the only motorable access road to more than 20 houses. Velsao-based activist and Goencho Ekvott leader Orville Dourado Rodrigues said the scheduled July 10 review meeting could not be held and that the ISLR survey is still pending. He also alleged that no land acquisition has taken place and that South Western Railway has not produced documents to support its ownership claim.
