At a time when Goa has recently witnessed unrest over Gautam Khattar’s controversial religious remarks, a public meeting of T Raja Singh has now been scheduled in Ponda on 24 May. During his previous speech in Goa, Raja Singh had urged every Hindu to keep a sword for self-defence.
Against this backdrop, the opposition’s silence over the upcoming meeting in Ponda has raised eyebrows. Intellectuals and observers are now questioning whether the opposition is in a dormant state or whether they, too, intend to use religious unrest for political gain.
What is even more shocking is that local leaders of the opposition parties, from the very area where the meeting has been organized, are also maintaining complete silence.
