The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Goa, has organised a three-day programme from August 28 to 30 to mark National Sports Day, celebrated on August 29 in honour of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr Ajay Gaude, said the celebrations aim to encourage people, especially youngsters, to make sports and fitness part of their daily lives.
The programme includes a tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, poster, photography and reel competitions, inter-departmental sports activities, a sports ball exhibition, an inter-college quiz, Sports Excellence Awards and a 29-km ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event, among several other activities.
