In this special feature of The Voice, host Devita Khule visits a strawberry farm in Verlem, Netravali. While the plantation has gained popularity, few know how strawberry farming is possible in Goa, a state not naturally suited to such crops due to its warm climate. This feature offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the farm has made this unlikely success possible.
Dhanita Velip, a member of the Bhumika Self-Help Group, explains how the initiative began — from land measurement and ownership details to innovative irrigation methods used despite the absence of a natural water source.
She also sheds light on the growth cycle of the plants, the sourcing of saplings, climate and soil requirements in Goa, work routines, where they live, strawberry sales, popular markets, and other produce grown and sold on the farm.
