Ponda by-election announcement raises questions over Assembly proceedings

The Election Commission of India’s announcement regarding the Ponda by-election has raised questions over the ongoing Assembly session, with the Opposition confronting the government on the issue. 

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai tabled before the House a letter sent by the Commission to the government, and objected to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant saying that the government would clarify its stand only by afternoon after consultations.
