Passport fees to be hiked across India from 1 July

The new charges apply to both regular and Tatkal passport applications

The Central government has revised passport fees under the Passports Rules, 1980. The new rates will come into effect from 1 July. A 36-page passport will now cost Rs 2,500, while the tatkal fee will be Rs 5,000. For 60-page passports, the fee has been increased to Rs 3,500, while tatkal applications will cost Rs 6,000.
