Ownership consent mandatory to regularise illegal structures: High Court

The High Court has ruled that illegal structures can be regularised only with clear ownership or all co-owners' consent

The High Court has ruled that unauthorised structures can be regularised under the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction Act, 2016, only if the applicant has clear ownership of the property or the consent of all co-owners. The court clarified that a pending civil suit does not establish ownership and dismissed a plea seeking regularisation of an illegal first-floor construction.
