May 20 chemists’ shutdown over online drug sale rules

Most medical stores are expected to remain closed, while hospital pharmacies will continue to operate

Goa Chemists and Druggists Association Secretary Prasad Tamba said that the All India Chemists' Strike will be held on 20 May, and said the protest is against the online sale of Schedule 1 drugs and the lack of regulation of online pharmacies. He added that FDA inspections will continue, and hospital pharmacies will remain open on 20 May. Tamba said that around 70% of medical stores are likely to remain closed and urged the public to buy essential medicines in advance.
