Mamata Maben has resigned from her post as South Goa Mahila Congress District President and has officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Maben alleged that during her time in the Congress party, she was not involved in decision-making processes in her constituency of Ponda, which made her feel that continuing in the party — even as South Goa Mahila Congress president — was pointless.
“If there is no democracy within the party itself, how can Congress ensure democracy for all Goans?” Maben questioned.
She said AAP’s grassroots work in healthcare, its commitment to honest politics, and the responsibilities entrusted to women leaders motivated her to join the party.
Welcoming her into the party, AAP leaders said Maben’s experience and strong grassroots connect would help strengthen the party’s reach in South Goa.
