Leopard claims life, Forest Dept clueless

Four days after a leopard attacked a man in Thane-Charavane, the forest department is yet to receive any report of the incident

Yashwant Gawas was attacked by a leopard on the Thane-Charavane road on his way home from work on 13 February. He succumbed to his injuries yesterday.

This is the second such incident of leopard attacks in the area in the past two years, say residents.

Rupesh Raut, Sr Reporter at The Voice, gets details from locals as well as Navin Kumar, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife & Eco Tourism). Kumar says that he is awaiting a report on the same from the range officer. It is interesting to note that he has not received a report even after 4 days.
