Traditional Ganpati sculptors say they make around 75 idols by hand, with painting work underway and completion expected by around August 20. Each idol costs about Rs 2,000, depending on its size.
The sculptors said work has been pending since June as they await government financial assistance, which is needed to purchase clay and continue production.
