Is the government promoting casinos?

Of late, Goa has witnessed a spate of protests — from ‘Enough is Enough’ to ‘Ponjekars Against Casinos’. The latest flashpoint is the proposed arrival of a massive casino in the Mandovi River.

While public opposition to casinos appears widespread, the government seems to be firmly backing them.

The page describes Goa as the “mini Las Vegas of India” catering to “live gaming seekers looking for Lady Luck,” among other promotional lines. It also lists several casinos, their offerings, and details about the state’s casino scene.
