Amar L Shet from Mayem has become Goa’s first National Handicrafts Award 2025 winner for his clay mural

A proud moment for Goa! Meet Amar L Shet from Mayem, Bicholim – the first ever Goan artisan to win the prestigious National Handicrafts Award 2025 in the Terracotta and Pottery category. At just 35 years, one of the youngest awardees in India, Amar Shet won the award for his exceptional clay mural on the traditional theme ‘Shri Devi Kelbai Malyachi Jatra at Mayem’.

Son of the late Ladu Shet and trained at Central Village Pottery Institute, Khanapur, he has kept Goa's dying clay art alive.
