Godinho flags ‘aggressive lobbying’ by GMR

MLA Mauvin Godinho says 70% of Mopa airport traffic comes from Maharashtra and accuses GMR of lobbying to project Dabolim as a mainly defence airport

Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said that 70% of the traffic from Goa’s Mopa Airport was from Maharashtra and 30% from Goa.

He alleged that GMR (which operates Mopa airport) was resorting to “tricks” and aggressive lobbying to undermine the Dabolim airport by projecting the latter primarily as a defence facility rather than a full-fledged civilian airport.

Godinho also spoke about NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) timings, operating civilian and defence flights, and closure of the Dabolim airport.
