Goa’s panchayat audit system has come under scrutiny following a sharp decline in audit report submissions by village panchayats. While all 191 panchayats submitted audit reports in 2023-24, the number dropped to just 13 in 2024-25, with no reports generated so far in 2025-26. The situation has raised concerns regarding financial accountability, public fund utilisation, and the functioning of the North and South Goa zilla panchayats.
