  • The Chairman of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), Levinson Martins, has emphasised that under the Central government's noise pollution rules, music will not be permitted after 10 pm, and that includes wedding celebrations in Goa. Those breaking the rules will be fined, he added.

  • Villagers from Santa Cruz have approached the Member Secretary of the Goa State Wetland Authority to raise objections to construction licences issued for a commercial project by the TCP Department and the village panchayat near Bondvoll Lake, calling for the approvals to be withdrawn.

  • The Water Resources Department plans to roll out a pilot bioremediation project on a stretch of the River Sal near the Margao wholesale fish market. The Rs 2.20-lakh project will utilise microbial agents to reduce pollution, amid concerns over its efficiency.

  • AAP Goa State President Valmiki Naik extended birthday greetings to Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, today. He was accompanied by party leaders Jack Sukhija, Sandita Gouveia and Juliet Ferreira during his visit.

  • The State Legislative Assembly was informed that 11 liquor shops and bars operate within a 100-metre radius of schools across the state, with Tiswadi taluka recording the highest concentration, accounting for 29 outlets.

  • Canacona Police have arrested Deepu Singh (29) near the Colomb mosque yesterday for possessing 431 gm of suspected charas valued at Rs 4.31 lakh. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Investigations are underway.

  • A collision involving a car and a cement mixer truck occurred at Margao junction yesterday. No casualties have been reported.

  • Commenting on the double murder case involving a Russian national, Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai said the accused came to Goa believing the state was lax on law and order and that he could get away with murder.

  • Opposition leader Yuri Alemao slammed the state government for rushing the Coastal Zone Management Plan 2019, saying the six-day window for public objections undermined transparency and natural justice.
