A Pernem resident lost 2.45 lakh after receiving a WhatsApp call from a fraudster posing as his brother's friend.
The caller falsely claimed that the complainant's brother had been detained by Mumbai police and urgently needed financial assistance. Mandrem police are investigating the case.
