The scheme provides up to 60% financial assistance to promote aquaculture, generate employment, and support sustainable seafood production

The Goa government has introduced a new scheme to promote crab farming by providing financial assistance for setting up mud crab culture units across the state. The scheme offers subsidies for pen culture and horizontal and vertical box culture units, along with assistance towards input costs.

General category beneficiaries will receive a 50% subsidy, while women and SC/ST beneficiaries will be eligible for 60% assistance. The initiative aims to generate employment, encourage entrepreneurship in fisheries and increase sustainable seafood production in Goa.
