FDA shuts down 5 Mapusa food stalls over severe hygiene violations

Severe hygiene lapses were found at the food stalls during an inspection

During a pre-monsoon inspection of seven food stalls near Alankar Cinema, Mapusa, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) ordered five outlets to immediately stop cooking activities.

The crackdown follows severe food safety violations, including filthy washing areas, unhygienic storage, and the use of spoiled ingredients.

Officials stated that despite repeated warnings and safety training, the vendors continued to flout basic hygiene norms. The FDA is now considering stricter legal action, including a potential permanent ban on cooking activities in the area.
