Electricity Department ready to reply to GHRC on smart meters

The GHRC had taken suo motu cognizance of public concerns over mandatory installation

The Goa Electricity Department has assured the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) that it will submit a detailed reply on the rollout of pre-paid smart meters. Executive Engineer Kashinath Shetye said the scheme is part of a Central Government policy and is being implemented in accordance with laws and regulations.

The GHRC had taken suo motu cognizance of concerns raised by residents and citizen groups over the mandatory installation of smart meters.
