The Mapusa Additional Sessions Court has rejected former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal's plea seeking an extension of time to surrender. Tejpal is now required to surrender at Colvale Jail on Monday, September 14, in accordance with the Supreme Court's direction.
Tejpal was convicted in connection with the 2013 sexual assault case involving a former junior colleague. He was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment. The court's latest order means Tejpal will have to surrender as directed, with no further extension granted.
