President of the Catholic Association of Goa, Cyril Fernandes, has urged Director of Education Shailesh Zingde to reconsider the compulsory Yoga Day programme scheduled on Sunday, 21 June 2026. Fernandes said it is unfair to ask students, teachers and staff to attend a 6 am event on their only day of rest and has requested that Yoga Day instead be observed on any other working day. He also noted that it’s surprising that even special schools have been directed to take part.
